About Us

In the early twentieth century, the Senart family proudly served fresh oysters and bar fare to the Navy Yard factory workers, sailors, and marines who worked in this southeast DC neighborhood.

From 1913 until 1939, the Senart family lived in a one-bedroom apartment above their oyster house near the corner of 8th and G street, which is now Senart’s Oyster & Grille Room.

Over the years, the neighborhood changed, but the commitment to the Senart family’s same proud service while offering the freshest oysters, chops, and seafood has not.
